interesting

Sometimes when I feel as though my friends and family have been offended I find it very hard to control my temper however I think I did a very good job in my response to that guy that posted. The response follows.

You know what I find most interesting concerning my last blog. Is that the person who responded and corrected me about posting the information did so without giving me a chance to recant or change. Rather he very publicly instigated a fight. That if you look at the comments of my very good friends got the result that he wanted. Congratulations Sir you got a fight. I do not wish to debate you on the points you presented for you were correct. I admit it and I deleted the information presented. However your methodology was incorrect. I unknowingly did something that could possibly have caused some consternation to the work of the Lord. Rather then calling me out in a public format would it not have been more appropiate to simply send me an e-mail or in some other less obvious way not that the information was wrong. If there was no other way then the way you chose should not yor words have been chosen a little more in the spirit of the message.
I say this because I looked at your blog profile it says you are from South Jordan in Utah. I do not know how often you have been outside of Utah but I have many friends that are not members of this church. And what you said and the manner in which you said it would have seriously offended almost every single one of them. I am a member and am ok with being wrong. I do not mind the Lord or the Lords servants correcting me. Heaven Knows I need it. However your apperent attitude with those people that I love far more then you know is unacceptable. Your callisnouss in the name of right is also unacceptable. Not everyone will ever be foreced to accept Jesus it is simply aginst the rules of the kingdom of God. I could be misreading what you wrote but I do not think I am. I am in effect asking you to either apoligize to my friends for your attitude or very kindly not post again on this blog. I do this in a public manner so that my friends will know that my love for them surpasses the bounds of being wrong. For I honestly do not mind being wrong. I am human and I admit it. However I will not stand for someone who in the name of Righteousness offends those who are not in need of offense. Once again it is not your words that have ginven umbrage it is your attitude in the presentaion of those words. You called me out publicly I have admitted my error and retracted the un-offical statement as requested by the chosen leaders of my faith. Now if you do not wish to publicly ask forgivness for the offense that you have caused then I ask you to not post again on this blog.
To my friends I do love you and hope the best for you I also hope that this person's attitude will not give you any more reason to argue or fight for fighting is very rarely worth it.
My father was offended once and has since gone the way of many others. An apolgy many years ago wether or not the other person was correct or not could have saved decades of pain and who knows he might actually still be a member.
I love this church and I do know it is the only true church on the face of the planet. The members however are not.
I also know that Christ lives and loves us and is very willing to work with our weaknesses and help them to become strengths.
I love my friends and I love my wife. I am so blessed to have them in my life.
I do not know where I would be without them I love them and am so gratefull for them
peace

this is actually refreshing compared to a lot of the news I've been reading. :)

I like how he not so subtly says that the leaders of the world won't be able to see what to do. Some of them probably are in cohorts to make all this economic mess. I personally very strongly believe it won't turn out as the conspirators plan. Prophecy has laid this out for us very well in advance. I like what Britta said about sharing food storage. I think what Britta is learning and doing with energy work will be of powerfully great need in these days. He talks about fear, and people will be afraid, what Britta is doing is helping to counter fear so we can see more clearly. :) It's only a part, and there are many parts. It's a good time for spirituality to grow and shed off the worldliness.

wow, thanks for the shout out. I agree with you Dave, I was told in the temple to learn this, and I was also told that Satan is trying to get in the path of my doing it, so I do know it is important.

Unfortunately this was a scary talk for me to read. I worry about the future and stability. You being a vet will be a good thing, in hard times it will still be a job in demand, as will my skills I am learning.

We need to do the food storage, I don't care if we go in debt for it. I have felt it was important for a long time and we still don;t have enough!

Why not pass along an "unofficial" talk to all my email aquaintances: My thoughts on the subject...

1. Because we have been asked not to do so by the First Presidency:

Recently President Packer gave a talk in his home ward, someone took notes, and sent it to a dozen of their
closest friends and relatives... who sent it to their missionaries throughout the world, their kids at school, their non-member friends as a "word of warning", posted it on blog sites, and everyone else in their address list.

This is the official response from the Church now being sent out in response:

"President Packer's Office indicates that the report of his talk is not accurate. It is recommended that individuals follow the instruction, counsel, and spirit of his recent general conference talk.

A First Presidency letter (to be read in sacrament meeting) of May 13, 2004 provides this counsel and official instruction: ". . . members of the Church [are] to never teach or pass on . . .statements without verifying that they are from approved official sources. . . . Any notes made when General Authorities, Area Seventies, or other general Church officers speak at regional and stake conferences or other meetings should not be distributed without the consent of the speaker. Personal notes are for individual use only." (See also: Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 1 (2006), pg. 173.) President Packer has not approved the report of his talk or authorized its distribution. "

2. The whole work of the Church came to a halt for a week as worried people, Bishops, Stake Presidents, Mission Presidents, CES teachers, the press - all inundated Church Offices with questions and concerns generated by their constituants; and instead of working on important items that further the Work of the Lord, people at Church HQ answered phones and emails. In other words, there are consequences of "well meaning" people passing along the latest "news" to their friends.

3. There are specific scriptural injunctions against "tale bearing", false witness, contention and other tools that Satan uses to disrupt the Work of the Church in these last days. Are we being a force for good in our communications with others? Are we bearing testimony of the Truth of the Gospel or passing along second hand information that is salacious dressed up as "inspiring"?

hmm, didn't the church officials warn us against blogging... or maybe it was chatting online... I don't know. guess that's another sin I'm committing.

In response to David's comment:

The latest Ensign gives instructions to members on using Blogs as a form of online journal keeping for our families. It has set up online chat rooms so people can talk to Church missionaries. You may have remembered this quote from Elder Ballard in 2003 (which is quite something else than what we are doing IMHO):

We see a rapid increase in cyberporn, involving sexual addiction over the Internet. Some become so addicted to viewing Internet pornography and participating in dangerous online chat rooms that they ignore their marriage covenants and family obligations and often put their employment at risk. Many run afoul of the law. Others develop a tolerance to their perverted behavior, taking ever more risks to feed their immoral addiction. Marriages crumble and relationships fail, as addicts often lose everything of real, eternal value.

Wow, Chris, I thought you said you weren't going to be angry, haha. You obviously are! I'm glad you post what you feel though, it's refreshing to see real emotion.

Well one day I will learn to control my anger better. I thought I was doing a real good job of controlling it though. Dave what do you think? I have a few pet peeves and that is one of them I guess. One day I will learn to not express my anger so forcefully. Unless dave says it did not sound angry in which case ha!
love you knotty woman
Dave I really hope you read this.
peace man

I agree with what you said, Chris. If something is pointed out as being wrong publicly, then it should be as small as possible. Maybe just say "see this for what the church says about this, please." kind of thing.

There are some times where anger is appropriate in my opinion.

oh, and I wasn't trying to add any fight... that person obviously knows all the rules and I wouldn't stand a chance against him. my sincere apologies if any words I said sounded like fighting words. I run away from conflict as much as I can. :)

Hey Chris, I finally got the right link to your blog. I saw some of your comments on our vacation blog. Sorry I didn't respond-sometimes we had internet but it was very slow. So how is life treating you? Your family is cute. When will you guys be coming to Utah? It would be fun to get together. Or maybe we could all meet Grannis over there in China. LOL. Talk to you later.
